Accept after Decline?

hi this might seem like a very stupid question, but I had to ask it. basically I was very close to attending UM and was a provost award recipient. this award was going to be taken away after my first year due to a change in finances. I won a $2500 private scholarship that I was planning on using for my sophomore year, but was told that it would be used as aid and not be added to the remaining cost. This caused me to unwillingly decline my admission just a week ago today and accept another university, which I do not want to attend. Today I found out that my scholarship could have been applied towards my sophomore year from the private company. so my question is, is can I call admissions and ask to be reconsidered. I know it is past May 1 and I delcinded, but I truly can’t see myself anywhere else than michigan. please help. thank you.

Why are you wasting your time on CC. Contact your admissions contact at Michigan ASAP and see if you can reverse your decision.

I would suggest this, Talk to your counselor at school and your principal. See if they will contact their contact at Michigan. If not then email /call your regional admissions person and see if they there is any chance… Like maybe you pushed the wrong button?! The problem is your Provost award might of been reallocated.

It’s strange to me that your family didn’t call financial aid and the scholarship department to clear this up prior to your decision.

No, just call them yourself ASAP.

@intparent in my opinion it is better to have someone inside Michigan fighting for the student. Having the school reach out to their regional person adds more weight behind it. More weight then some kid that didn’t understand their scholarships and how it would affect them. Lots of high schools actually have excellent relationships with their regional people. Again just a suggestion.

I really wouldn’t do it that way. A sincere call from the student themselves made ASAP (before they finish going to the waitlist if they are going to) is the best bet. Putting layers between the student and admissions right now isn’t going to help.
