<p>Sorry for posting this like a worried idiot, but I am really worried.</p>
<p>My freshman sophomore grades have been good, but my final average has been like a 96.4/96.9 weighted, which is about 93.5 ish unweighted. I think that translates to a 3.7-3.8 gPa. Hopefully I will bring up UW average to about 95 next year, but I am still worried- Do I have a good chance? </p>
<p>ECs, REcs, Essays will be good, haven't taken SAT and didn't prepare at all for PSAT this year because it didn't count this year.
Right now I am really worried about the grades themselves. </p>
<p>Luckily I go to a competitive private school ranked #1 in region and take pretty much the most advanced course-load(except there are some two years ahead in foreign language, whereas I am only one year ahead) , but my guidance counselor gives me this "let's think about if Cornell is right for you" talk like I am a B student. </p>
<p>I am thinking about either CALS or CAS respectively, and I was wondering if these academics ar okay. Sorry for being so neurotic- report cards do this.</p>
<p>no, that sucks. It's 4.0 or bust for CU. lol, j/p. Your stats are good, just beat up the SAT and such and you'll have a good chance. Don't worry about guidance counselors, my guidance counselor told me I had no shot at it in high school. I'd really like to kick down the door to his office, throw my case for cornell in his face and be like, read it and weep BIOTCH!</p>
<p>luckily my PSAT score was really good, but I didn't say it because I think I can do eons better with prep. If I was junior and not a sophomore, I think I would have been receommended for National Merit somthing or other.</p>
<p>And does living in NY help?
Lastly- I saw on some stats sheet that CAS has like 12,000 applicants for 4,000 spots and CALS had considereably less applicant for a slightly lower number of spots? Should I apply to the one that I like more, or the one I could realistically get into?</p>
<p>Well, CALS has an acceptance rate of about 27% while CAS is 21% so you might have a better shot at CALS, but it's more important that you apply to the college that fits your intended major and goals for college.</p>
<p>o cmon...ur fine. Guidance counselers can be psychotic...mine actually LAUGHED at me when I told her my college list... It was funny though because I came in the day after I found out about Cornell and told her I got into one of my favorite colleges and she somehow guessed right (and I applied to 14 colleges)...crazy lol.</p>
