After you receive your admission email and mail letter, do you get any Princeton clothes and accessories to officially recognize yourself as a Class of 2017 Tiger? I would like to know this because my school has an annual Senior Academic Day, and if admitted, I would definitely like to be covered head to toe in Princeton gear, literally!

I don’t have an answer for you but as an HYP alum, may I make a suggestion? Certainly an acceptance to a school like PTon would seem to be great affirmation of a HS career of hard work. And your happiness can be well understood.

Bedecking yourself “head to toe” in Princeton gear smacks me as pretty gauche and full of bluster. Actual students and fellow alumni I’ve known from HYP et al are rather sedate about that accomplishment.

I believe what we value is the self satisfaction of our time at those colleges-- not the approbations of outsiders who might or might not just think we’re snobs or elitists.

That’s my 2 cents. But your first and largest hurdle will be getting admitted.

You can always call some sports apparel place and buy your own gear.

If you get in, feel free to dress in those college shirts - the bookstore will ship to you. High school photos of all the seniors in their respective college shirts are classic - it memorializes the success of the students and the high school.

My son will occasionally wear his “swag” away from school.

Last year admitted students could request a complimentary “Class of 2016” t-shirt which was then shipped to their homes. The PU-store [Official Princeton University Store - The U-Store Online](http://www.pustore.com/) also has lots of gear available for purchase. Sometimes parents and sibs have even been known to order an item or two!

Of course, freshmen also get quite a bit of free swag. (Sweatpants, t-shirts, sweatshirt…etc from my freshmen IIRC.) So keep that in mind before you spend a ton of money at the U-Store! :P

Correct … If you’re lucky to get in, don’t stock up on any Princeton gear just yet. Sure, take the free t-shirt from the U-Store, but when you show up next fall, you’ll have more orange and black clothes than you’ll know what to do with.

Guys, one thing I would recommend you invest in (and this can be as early as HS) is an orange and black striped necktie or bow tie – keep it classy.

^^ Respect.

My school allows seniors to wear ny shirt and tie. So if i get accepted, black shirt/orange tie or orange shirt/black tie? or should i just get a black and orange tie and wear it with what ever shirt that fits?

My school required us to wear either a black or white shirt, with either a black, white, or green (school colors) tie. I wore a white shirt with an orange/black tie. The principal rolled his eyes at me, but didn’t say anything.

Wait…so does Princeton actually give each and every student heaps and heaps of free swag? Or is it more like a lottery thing where only select people get them?

Heaps upon heaps … about one every day during freshman week … if you do intramurals you can pick up a few more … also, i got two drawstring backpacks (one really nice one at preview, one during frosh week) and a zip-up track jacket … yeah heaps. Water bottles … more stuff. Yeah don’t buy any tshirts, you’ll get more than enough.

WHOA! I want to get in like right now. haha. I was expecting the “heaps” thing to be an exaggeration, but good thing it isn’t. Something to look forward to!

pray that the people who design the 2017 shirt aren’t awful at shirt design. 2016 had a lame, not cute squirrel with a nasty shady of orange

This is true ^

worry about getting in first before what clothes you’re going to wear the next day to school.

GOT IN so now i get to worry lol
