@huet99 I still haven’t gotten an email. I have been pretty much checking every day.
Engineering is pretty competitive, it depends on if the 3.5 is weighted or unweighted, and where your lower grades were. 29 ACT is the 25th percentile for engineering. You have a chance, but you might end up in pre-engineering or college of arts and sciences instead.
I had a 3.5 unweighted and I got in, but I also had a really high SAT and really high grades in higher level math and science classes. I’m assuming my reccomendations also helped.
@TreeLights Thanks! I don’t really care as long as they consider you for CAS, which I didn’t see the option for on the common app but I guess is automatic.
Also, what part of the portal does it say you were accepted?
@huet99 there’s a message in the middle section of the welcome page that says something like ‘congratulations you’ve been accepted to _____’ it’s only a few lines long, and easy to miss when you log in.
When you click ‘check status’ it will say you’re admired there too, but doesn’t say what college you got into.
If you catch the portal very soon after they update it, the ‘status’ marker will still say applicant.
I’d be really shocked if you didn’t get into CAS, and they do default to that if you aren’t competitive enough for the college you apply for.
Huet I got into pre engineering with a 3.4 and 34 act. You should be fine for pre engineering but they generally only admit people direct to engineering with 3.9s or higher so treeman seems like an exception.
Has anyone applied for Education? My daughter applied 11/14 for Elementary education and still has not heard. She emailed and received an email back stating that she would hear by 2/1. My other daughter heard a long time ago, she applied the same day for communication science and disorders. I don’t understand why it’s taking so long.
Annaleigh275 - Congratulatons! I see that you shared the good news at 12:33am. Were you constantly checking the MyCUBoulder page and it changed that late/early in the day?
@newlion it was actually around 10:33 my time when I checked my portal and posted.
I had been checking constantly, a few times a day.
I checked it around 7pm yesterday and it still said “under review” so it updated to admitted around 7-10 pm.
D accepted to ENVD, with Chancellor’s scholarship & A&S Honors Program.
(3.97 UW GPA, 1480 SAT)
Side note… is it wrong that I find it hilarious that the school my D had to write a Diversity essay for, decorated their admit envelope with a cheering crowd of white kids? :))
@TreeLights - it was about a week. First the admit decision appeared on the portal… then the merit aid, 4-5 days later… then an email heads-up that the decision was available on the portal. And then the packet arrived another day or two after the email. Honors info was in the packet but not on the portal.
@TreeLights the pre-engineering program is for students who didn’t have the required credits to be directly admitted to the engineering program. But the way it is set up, your first year will set you up for your major in engineering and after you have finished the required credits you can switch into the engineering program. Their pre-engineering website has a lot of helpful information.
