acceptance or rejection?

okay, this is my deal:

A program that I applied to in my home state has already sent out their rejections and someone I know from many states away has already received their decision letter by mail and it was a rejection. According to their letter, the rejection decisions were made on March 10 and they received the letter on March 16.

However, I have heard nothing from the department as far as an acceptance or rejection.

From what I guess I am probably on a waiting list.

I dont know what else it could be, but my program was UT Spanish

Have you heard from them yet? I think the Texas mail system is out of whack. My freind applied to the Latin American Studies program at Austen and we were both on pins and needles as to if she'd get in. Apparently they'd sent an acceptance letter dated March 8 and it didn't arrive until the 18 and she lives in McAllen TX! She and her mom couldn't figure out when it was posted though because there wasn't a date stamp on the envelope. Talk about +1 week of needless worrying!
