For all the engineering majors out there that are trying to transfer to cal poly,

What is your transfer GPA and did you complete the IGETC or follow assist.org?

I was just curious because I only completed 2 series of physics which include the mechanics of solids and E&M. I also only took General Chemistry I. I’m kind of scared because of the fact that since I didn’t finish either the physics or chemistry series, it will affect whether I will be accepted or not.

GPA: 3.77 at time of application submission

I’m a computer engineer who is transferring as a senior level applicant. I will have my IGETC Certification by the end of this semester, as well as every equivilent support course, required course, and major course available to me completed or in progress as of this semester. I followed assist.org almost exactly. I am nervous because I have not heard anything, but I still have not heard a no and I feel I am quite a competitive applicant which is, in its own way, reassuring.

GPA: 3.67 at time of application
Electrical Engineer

I have all of the courses according to assist.org finished which includes the physics series, math series, general chemistry, etc. I’d like to think I’m a competitive applicant but we’ll see :/

Id like to think I’m competitive too senorclean, but sometimes it’s just luck. I was denied for ME in 2010 with a weighted HS gpa of 4.2 and a 1370 two part sat

Congrats KonaLuv, David 12345 and amy82425!! All you guys have been very active in CC and have made a great contribution. Sad that we are losing you to Cal Poly very soon!!

Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 4.0
Current School: Monterey Peninsula College

I don’t follow IGETC at all. Most engineering programs suggested I didn’t. I met all the assist articulation requirements, but Cal Poly doesn’t articulate many classes from my school.

Dod anyone else think the linked acceptance video was cool!?

If admissions were based on how many times a candidate refreshes the portal, then I’d be IN.

Joking aside, my major is Computer Engineering (transfer) and my GPA is 4.0. I’ve taken every recommended and required class while working 25 hours per week at a job related to my major. Oh, and I’m a minority and a first generation student.

Just keep hanging in there. It’s not over until you receive a rejection. Until then, keep studying and try to think about other things. Don’t forget to breathe.

I don’t think anyone on here can say for sure Amy. There are way too many variables to make an educated guess. They could have only done one group of apps, they could have released decisions for those they were certain on while others are being deliberated, etc. I hope it works out for you!

Im a Business Admin transfer, at Cuesta, 3rd year, w/ 70+ credits, IGETC and CSUGE certified, 3.53 GPA, and i still haven’t heard either… i wouldn’t worry about it. Also pretty positive they are sending out acceptances alphabetically within majors.
