i have another question; my current senior year schedule is as follows: ap lit, ap comp gov, ap physics, ap bio, ap calc ab, engineering physics 2, human anatomy & physiology

I want to drop out of ap lit and take regular english 12 but am not sure if this will affect my chances greatly. any advice?

For Psychbio, you’re probably just fine. Psychbio is only slightly math heavy, but nowhere near approaching Econ. I consulted both of my friends in Psychbio (one ED, one RD) and they say they had mostly B’s in math as well. That’s obviously no form of proof, but B’s in HSS on your transcript is not a big deal like it is in SCS.

It probably won’t affect your chances greatly, but my advice is to hang in there and then drop it when you get accepted if you still really hate the class. I did more or less the same maneuver with AP Stat my senior year.

Thanks completelykate. It was helpful.

if i apply ed2 for cmu, will cmu consider my 1st quarter grades senior year? cause my 2nd quarter ends in last week of January. i know that sounds like a dumb question but i just wanted to know because i still want 1st quarter to show improvement in my grades.

and also do you know if psychbio is chem heavy? cause i got a B in ap chem and i am taking ap bio senior year. soo i was thinking if i got 1st quarter to show my grades, i could try to get a A in ap bio and that prolly looks good to cmu.

i just want to thank you for helping my out w/ college admissions. you have been a HUGE help. thnx

btw how hard is the psychbio program? i understand that its cmu sooo nothing is really easy but would getting a good gpa be hard to get say for some one who wants to apply to med school.

Typically it seems like they consider all grades which are on the transcript sent to them. If your grades will be published prior to you sending your transcript to cmu, then yes.

To your chem question: Yes. You’ve got at least 4 chem classes to take, one of which is org chem.
One of my psych bio friends is, to put it lightly, a pretty big procrastinator who takes on way too much each semester and thus struggles a lot. But he’s still pulling decent (A, B) grades in Psychbio with a couple C’s along the way. If you are a good time manager and are good at what you do you should have absolutely no problem.

is the gpa given on the cmu website for HSS the reported gpa from high schools or cmu’s recalculated gpa?
