Hi, I'm new to this particular site, but I heard that it's a great way to get some info on colleges and the sort, so please tell me if i did anything wrong/unknowingly broke some rules ^^.
I am planning on applying ED to CMU HSS for either Economics or Japanese for the 2011-2012 application season.

Ethnicity:Korean (contradicts the japanese major eh? haha)
City: Pittsburgh, PA
Firstly, what are my chances of getting in?

GPA: UW-3.7
W-4.2
Also since I heard CMU recalculates your GPA w/o freshman year

GPA w/o freshman year: UW-3.91
W-4.4
My grades improved progressively, peaking at straight A's junior year
I have taken 3 AP courses (Physics, US hist, Calc AB) and recieved 5 on all tests
All my other courses are honors, including orchestra
Senior Schedule: AP Econ (macro+micro), AP Stats, AP European History, AP Biology, Honors East Asian History, Honors English, Honors Chamber Orchestra, P.e

SAT:2230 (800M, 730CR, 700WR, 10 Essay)
ACT: (just took it for the hell of it) 32
SATII: 710 Math II, 740 Physics, 800 US hist
E.C-Bunch of church stuff, president of national honors, tons of volunteer, nothing really special except maybe that I was a korean school teacher for middle schoolers?

Secondly, is admission difficulty dependent on what your intended major is at HSS? e.g. Is applying HSS econ harder than HSS psychology or something?

Also is ED acceptance to HSS harder or easier than RD?

Lastly, this is sort of random, but when a college says their 'average financial aid package' is so and so amount of dollars, do they mean per year? or all together? e.g 23,000 package=23,000/year or 23,000 total?

Thank you!
