What is the acceptance rate at U Mich, espicially from out of state?

Typically, the acceptance rate at Michigan has hovered at or slightly above 50%. Michigan does not give out statistics on OOS admissions, so it is not really possible to give exact numbers, but it should be tougher for OOS applicants. Last year, Michigan admitted 47% (compared to 57% in 2005) of those who applied and you can expect another dip in the acceptance rate this year, although I doubt it will be by another 10%.

When I was at the info session, they explained that they try to keep the admissions rates approximately the same for in-state and out of state applicants. They also said that the percentage of out of state students that attend the school is significanly smaller because they are less likely to matriculate because of the higher tuition and distance from home. However, I have a hard time beleiving this because it always seems that people who get rejected out of state on this board have higher stats than in state students who are accepted. They probably tell you that so more people will apply.

On the old point system, I'm pretty sure you got 10 points just for being a Michigan resident.

We're gonna break into the 30's this year, I can feel it.
