Hello everyone.

I am wondering what the acceptance rate was for the Class of 2011?

According to the college board website, 51% were admitted. I believe that is a little high.

Please let me know ASAP.

Thanks.

About that many were admitted. But all of those people don't actually come here. That's the main thing to remember. I seem to remember the admissions office saying that the acceptance rate was somewhere in the mid 40%'s

It should be high because BU is a big school. I've gone through this before, but BU has about 4200 freshman. To get that many, you need to admit a lot of people. A 1/3 yield would require almost 13,000 admits. If I remember correctly, BU had like 32,000 applications. BU "selectivity," which I consider a largely worthless statistic, is fairly low; the yield is relatively low. Yield is affected by a bunch of factors. BU is a back-up for more "prestige" schools, is a back-up for New York / NJ kids whose first choice is NYU, etc.
