<p>does anyone know what the acceptance rate was this year? I'm pretty sure they gave statistics in the rejection letters...</p>

<p>During my explore session, I had lunch with an admissions officer and he said that the acceptance rate went up from last year, for the reasons mentioned in this thread.</p>

<p>There may be some confusion here. The admit rate is the rate students are accepted from the pool of applicants. An example would be: One hundred students applied to the mythical School of Nuclear Engineering. Of that number 20 were accepted. The admit rate would be 20%. </p>

<p>Last year the admit rate was either 21.9% or 22% depending upon which statistic to believe. Due to uncertain conditions the admit rate was expected to rise only one or two per cent. What will be key is how many of that 22 to 24% decide to enroll. In 2007 SC received more acceptances than expected and ended up with a freshman class of over 2900+ which put pressure on housing availability. </p>

<p>The complete admissions profile was not posted until August last year. It will be interesting to see how many students do enroll after notification day, May 1st.</p>

<p>I think we should consider the fact that USC probably admitted more spring admits than they did last year for the reasons stated above. A lot of students aren't going to be able to attend for financial reasons so I think the 1 or 2 percent increase in acceptances might be because USC is expecting to bump more springs up to fall, but they don't want to take the risk of admitting more fall. Ultimately, I doubt there will be many more bump ups than there were last year, but there will be more spring admits. What do you guys think?</p>
