Does Columbia have a list of acceptance rates by major or school (CC versus GS)? And if possible, first-year acceptance rates vs transfer rates for those areas.

No. I think this is the closest you’ll find: [Planning and Institutional Research Office of the Provost](http://www.columbia.edu/cu/opir/abstract.html)

There is however a way to “guesstimate” the acceptance rates by Major. Columbia ultimately need to send its students to either grad school, law school, med school, or an occupation of some sorts.

You can research the field you are interested in and check the current market for the demand. Computer science and Computer engineering are two of the most recruited majors. Before I chose to the come to Columbia, the chair of the CE department actually called me to talk more about the school and program.

Position yourself with a “hot” major will likely increase your chances.
