Acceptance/scholarship...typical?

DD recieved official acceptance & scholarship- she got 10k/year. SHe applied to be a bio major. Her letter said there may be additional scholarships announced in April. Does anyone know if these ever pan out? How are they with financial aid? DD really loves this school, but it is very $pricey$~

I got 12k/yr as a bio major too.
NEU said that they give scholarships to the top 25% of accepted students, and the full trustee/NMF scholarships are gven out to the top 1-2% of those who already rwcieved a scholarship. Seeing as neither of us got the deans scholarship (17k/yr) or into the honors program(top 10%) I’m assuming her stats aren’t in the top 1-2 so no, you probably won’t get the full scholarship. Apply for financial aid?

DS got $12K/yr as a ChemE major.

I agree with you that this school is very pricey. I’ve been trying to convince ds to consider SUNY, our state school, so he can graduate with no debt, but his heart is set on Northeastern.

It’s typical on CC. Not in general. Like the people above me ahead, they give scholarships to the top 25%, and the top 10% get invited into the honors program as well.

I got $15K for my first year, and $7500 for each year thereafter from the Dean’s Scholarship, and they also gave me the NEU Grant which is $1250, which I’m not sure is need-based or merit-based. I’m a Marketing major at CBA.

Based on my tentative package, which includes federal aid, I still have $18000 to come up with for my freshman year if I go, I’ve gotta get outside scholarships.

Glad to see other posts of this sort on the board. D was accepted to COE and honors and got the Dean’s Scholarship for 17k…but she’ll need more than that to make it work financially for our family. I’d love to hear from current students of the COE and what their scholarship experience was like, particularly women engineers.

^My roommate and I are both in honors with $14,000 Dean’s Scholarships. She’s in COE. I’m kinda frustrated that there seem to have been so many $17,000 scholarships this year for people with stats similar to my own. I know last year the highest (Dean’s) scholarship was $16,000, but I feel like most of the people in the honors program whose scholarships I know got $14k.

$12k each year for me.

I got a 17k/yr along with acceptance into the honors program. What do I have to do for the Trustees scholarship? Or am I automatically considered?
