Don't I know it, lderochi? We had the pleasant pocketbook effect of the merit $$ for two terms only, due to Katrina. But the pride lasts - for us and for our kids.

How do you find out so early? Our school has started sending out transcripts, but they are by no means finished. Another parent told me the teachers at this school get swamped and that the recommendations usually come in later rather than sooner.

Avoiding the rush, my son submitted his transcript/School Report request pretty much as soon as school started. Actually, for a few school that only required the transcript and not a School Report from the GC, he had the transcript sent over the summer. But of course that won't work for schools that require the GC to sign something and/or that require teacher reccomendations.

EDIT: of course when I say "my son submitted" it should be read as "I nagged my son incessantly to submit", because I knew that he would get very busy very quickly once Senior year started. :)

Wow lderochi, another one! Congrats to ytour son, you must all be feeling very relaxed. Excellent work, enjoy!

Thanks, yes we are happy. I have become a big fan of rolling admissions! We should be finished in December (unless the ED school defers him rather than accepts/rejects).

Son got into Wisconsin and I'm thrilled! It's great because (a) he loved the school after visiting and would gladly go there, (b) it bodes well for other applications, and (c) that first one is always the sweetest.

They acted fast! Add me to those who now love rolling admissions!

::::doing happy dance::::

Congrats to all!
Hoping to get that first one soon.
2 of the three EAs are submitted and one of those responds in a rolling manner, so our fingers are crossed.
One of the top contenders is RD, so alas, we will have this drag out till April :(

Another Purdue, here

Congrats Duke and Roscoe!
My D applied to Wisconsin too, but is sending her GC reccomendation for the second time and HS transcript for the third time. If she can ever get a full application packet together, hopefully she'll get a speedy reply too!?! :)

I remember DD had a rolling admissions school and applied at the very last minute , to the point where she had to email the essay ! Now I can't believe DS is taking his time.....................)-:

SpringfeildMom :- congrats on great schools ! Is UPItts ed or ea ?

entomom - Get it all in to Wisc ASAP! At this time, if they like the applicant, they're acting within a few days! Things will prolly be different a few weeks down the road.

Is UPItts ed or ea ?
[/quote]

Neither, it's rolling. Get it in soon and have a better shot :D

Easydoesit: UPitt is rolling admissions-no ED or EA. But thanks; its the first school she says she can realistically see herself at (the other two are safeties)

We just went to Penn State...in the rain...and snow (just a little) on Saturday. Aside for the weather, its another real possibility, although we all have a problem with the size. Everyone at PSU is happy (I have a niece there now who's a freshman); henceforth the "Happy Valley" moniker. Heard a lot of "We are....Penn State" I thought I would go nuts. I will try and write a visit report. DD's app has been in at PSU for 1 1/2 months--they call themselves "rolling admissions" but the review apps in "pools", the first being the Aug 1-Nov. 30th pool. So, wish us luck.

We still have 4 common app schools to send to; the Common App is finished and submitted to one common app school so far.

Just visited UPitt this weekend. Admissions officer stated that they have received about 1500 more apps so far this year as compared to this time last year. If you want to apply to Pitt he suggested doing ASAP.

Roscoe,
Yes, she's sending everything AGAIN today, overnight mail this time! She did a pretty good job at getting her parts in by the end of September, but the GC was a month late with his rec and Wisconsin keeps saying they are missing pieces. I hope she is still in time for the early window, we're keeping our fingers crossed!

S is into University of Colorado - Boulder. Big envelope came in the mail today. Computers is not his strong point. Package was complete on the 23rd, and letter was dated the 24th. He did check last week and all of his applications are complete. Feels better to know he has somewhere to go next year. Hoping Wisconsin is quick a well. Other schools are December.

Congrats, massmom! A friend of my older S is at UC Boulder, doing aerospace engineering, and has had some really nice opportunities for internships. Hoping for more good news for your S!

I completely agree my daughter received two rolling acceptances yesterday from University of Indiana and Tampa. It sure took the pressure off of her!
Glad she had all of her apps in by the middle of September.

YAY YAY Hip Hip Hooray!!!!

DS accepted to McCombs School of Business at University of Texas!!!

His only application, his only wish!!

whew, we're done!!!!!

Congrats to everybody else!!! It is so nice to hear good news!!

Joy in Texas! One and out - what could be better? Congrats, ag54.
