I got into the UCONN nursing undergraduste program and i love it there. My main problem is trying to convince my dad of UCONN over Northeastern, where i also got into their nursing program. Can anyone give me details about the uconn nursing school compared to northeastern that would help me? For example: Where are clinicals usually? Pass rate on the state licensing exam? Stats about after-graduations jobs (like % who are hired right out of college) etc. I'd really appreciate some help

I would think the fact that UConn School of Nursing has a 100% placement rate would be a good sell.

do you know what their rate of passing the licensing exam is?

also i should clarify that my dad just wants the best for me so he wants to make sure that i go where i need to be…

I would suggest that you just call the school. They can give you all the information you want.

What were your test scores and gpa and everything? I’m still waiting to hear from the nursing program and I’m nervous

well GPA: about 94-95
SAT: CR-620 math- 590
ACT- 28
rank: 27 out of 181
and i had like 6 extra cirriculars… student govenrment sports etc

my daughter is in the same position. one of my concerns is the proximity of hospitals (and clinicals) at UConn. hartford is 50 minutes away, so where do the students do their clinicals?

I’m guessing they do their clinicals at uconn’s hospital…

whats you’re reason for wanting to go to uconn over northeastern?
the best thing about uconn is its over 20k cheaper a year and has good grad programs, they have a list of where they do clinicals on the website, i am going to uconn nursing, i didn’t apply to northeastern just because i didn’t want to go to school in a big city, which depends on what you like

The UConn Health Center Hospital is about an hour away - the other side of Hartford. So yes, most clinicals are in Hartford or beyond.

Their pass rate was terrible a few years ago - the Dean got called on the carpet of the State Nursing Board to explain why the state’s flagship university had such a dismal rate. Not sure if it has improved since, but it is definitely something you’ll want to find out.
