accepted at Oxford but.....

waiting for Emory!! very scared(even if i know my D has the stats to go there!!) since the decisions are coming out we are very disappointed!!! she is not a urm and she is asking for financial aid and i think that make the difference!! she got waitlisted a lot from schools we thought she had great chances! and today and tomorrow come the hardest ones!! how can we be confident??? impossible!!sheisgoing to face more rejections or waitlists! and it's very hard on me seeing her being so sad !! so i'm thinking if at least she can get intoEmory it will be a great day!! but on the Opus, everything is like linking her to Oxford! i think Emory will be another deception! what about you guys? what are your thoughts??

I’m in the same situation! Emory is like my last hope (it has always been my first choice). This anxiously waiting is the worst part!! Maybe they will have a higher acceptance rate because of the decrease in applications. I just hope all the HPYS people who use Emory as a backup and don't really want to go there don't take up all the spots :/. And I think Emory is need blind though so asking for financial aid can't hurt though so at least that's good. I didn’t apply to Oxford so I don’t know about the OPUS thing. Good luck!

i am facing the exact situation as LaVieEnChocolat, i apply for both emory college and oxford college, and i am admitted by oxford. Now, i am waiting for emory college. 3/30 6pm? Is it right?

LaVie - Just a suggestion, but be positive about the acceptances for your daughter's sake. Dwelling on rejection seems like a waste of time. If she attends Oxford for 2 years, she'll still have an Emory degree after 4. Best wishes!

^ thank you for your nice words! when i talk to her i try to stay positive but she can tell that i'm faking it! what is most depressing it's that 1 or 2 friends of her rank less than her with average grades got into nice schools where my D has been waitlisted.. so she is asking where is the moral? what i can think about it's that she is not an urm and she is asking for money!! good luck everybody( i want to be next week already!!!!)

LaVieEnChocolat, you shouldn't care about what other classmates got in, and any other stuff like that. Who matters to you, I think, is your daughter, and being already accepted into Emory College, she has an opportunity to get great education... Considering the options she has, I am sure she will be happy and successful wherever she goes.

^^thank you all! i will follow your advices and focus on what God wants to give.. i guess..

LaVieEnChocolat-You know, some people didn't have the fortune to be accepted to Oxford. The way you are moaning, one would think your daughter had no acceptances! Be thankful for what you already have and good luck this afternoon.

^^^" I guess.." ^^^^

(climbing onto my soap box)

If your D doesn't get into Emory College. I seriously suggest you take Oxford off your list of schools because obviously YOU will not be happy for her being there and therefore she will be miserable and feel like a failure in her mother's eyes. As you said, she can tell you are faking it and is already questioning her self-worth because she hasn't gotten into a school you deem good enough for her. Please don't do that to your child. :(

(climbing off my soapbox)

I apologize if the above sounds harsh, but Oxford is an amazing school with a great faculty and outstanding students. The school deserves students and parents who recognize, respect and appreciate the the superior educational and leadership opportunities that Oxford offers.

I got in to Oxford, rejected from Emory

I got in to Oxford, rejected from Emory

got into Oxford, waitlisted by Emory

How are people finding their Emory decisions if they have Oxford decisions?

I can only view my Oxford decision on OPUS.

Please help? Grrr I am getting so frustrated lol.

When you click on view decision, it shows 2 links as opposed to before when the Oxfiord letter just popped up.

I guess mine isn't up yet then? I only have the Oxford letter displayed.

I guess I'll have to wait longer. :(

ME TOOO
i hate being waitlisted.
but either way, if i do go there, ill graduate from emory.
