Accepted at The Commonwealth School (Boston)

My daughter just received her acceptance. She is not unhappy at her current (public) school, but has fallen in love with Commonwealth since her interview visit, so this is a tough decision. I would love to hear from current students or parents about their Commonwealth experiences.

Thanks.

Hi Gertrudestein

I am the parent of a current Commonwealth student and also of a recent Commonwealth graduate. Both of my children have thrived in the unique environment provided by the school. Please do the revisit if possible.

Like most secondary schools, it’s all about fit. The school is very welcoming though and gives tons of support to its students. Rigorous academics, as I am sure you know, and also very close relationships with faculty. Also, for a school this size, we were surprised by how diverse student interests are.

I have nothing but good things to say about Commonwealth. If you have more specific questions, feel free to PM me!

Thank you soomoo. As far as I can tell, there is very little, if anything, negative to be said about Commonwealth. My life would be simpler if there were, but people seem to have uniformly positive things to say. I realize that every school attracts its own good matches. I’m believe my daughter and Commonwealth would do very well together. I’m delighted that she has the opportunity to attend such an interesting and compelling school. Now to contend with the complexities of making this switch.

I can tell you that students who attend Commonwealth find the experience to be what they expected. I know this is also true for other schools, but I just want to reassure you that the school is very much what it appears to be. Prospective students (and families) who are drawn to Commonwealth and take the time to make an informed decision will invariably make a well-grounded one.
