I was recently accepted at UW-Madison after being postponed. Wisconsin has been my top choice throughout this process. I really like some other schools that I have been accepted to and others that I am still waiting on. I have been accepted to Delaware, Indiana U, MSU, and Penn State. I am still waiting on VTech, James Madison U, Fordham, and UConn.

Are there any major advantages to committing quickly instead of waiting to visit/get decisions?
Is Wisconsin clearly the best school here?

I would still visit if the trip was covered. There’s not a real benefit to accepting early and there’s always the possibility that a school you visit will become your new top choice.

Even though Wisconsin is your top choice and is a solid one at that, if you have the slightest doubt, you may want to think about looking at your other top choices before making a decision if it’s feasible. You won’t want to be regretting it thinking, what if I went to another school.

Are there any financial issues? Waiting to compare packages might make sense. One big advantage of accepting now would be signing up for an earlier registration/orientation day, or getting a better housing spot.

If you are concerned about housing, you can accept and make that deposit now, but still wait until the other admissions and financial aid offers come in before making a final decision. Many students do that, especially if they are waitlisted somewhere. But first check to see if any deposits are refundable if you cancel before a certain date -usually May 1.

I visited every school I applied to. Even though I eventually settled on my top choice, I was able to do with a clear conscious and without regret, knowing that I had seen and carefully considered all my options. I didn’t want to spend 4 years playing “What if?” games in my mind, and I don’t think you do either.

Do you need to review FA packages first? Or will your parents pay for wherever you go. If you need FA, and you’re OOS for UW-M, you may find that your FA pkg isn’t what it needs to be.

FA is really important, so I see what you’re saying about waiting to see all of my offers. My parents have enough money to allow me to go to an OOS school, but if one gave me much more than another, it would make a difference.

My main concerns are probably making sure I have a spot at UW Madison because I feel like I was very fortunate to get accepted, and to have many dorm options.

I’m curious, of the schools on your list, Fordham stands out as a very different choice from the rest. What were the reasons why it’s on your list?

Since your parents can afford to send you to all of these schools, I doubt you’d get money from any of them, unless one of them gave you some small merit. If your stats are high for some of these schools, then those schools might throw you a small scholarship.

What was your EFC?

I know that you think your parents have enough money to afford these schools. Are you certain that they will pay all costs? Have they said so specifically? Many parents won’t pay for an OOS public.
