BTW does anyone know why my portal hasnt changed yet? is it b/c i havent recieved the email?

damn those scores are crazy… but mine hasn’t either it takes 24 - 48 hours… so it should in a day or two

Is their ED binding?

Eirina, YES:

Early Decision
Early Decision is for those applicants for whom Cal Poly is
a clear first choice. Applicants should have established
strong and consistent academic records throughout
secondary school and should have completed all the
required standardized testing by October of their senior
year. About 10% of our new freshmen students will be
selected under our Early Decision plan.
Candidates are reviewed on their program of study in
secondary school, academic performance in classes,
standardized test scores, extra-curricular activities, and/or
work experience.
Early Decision candidates must be committed to attend Cal
Poly. Students admitted under this plan may be released
only for compelling medical or financial reasons. Students
who apply for Early Decision and are not selected will be
automatically reviewed under the Regular Decision Plan.
For students who choose the Early Decision option:
The student, parents, and counselor will be asked to sign
a statement confirming the student’s intention to enroll at
Cal Poly if admitted, to not apply for Early Decision at
other universities, and to withdraw applications to other
institutions immediately upon admission to Cal Poly.
The student will file the Pony Express application and a
non-refundable $55 application fee as soon as possible
after the application is available (by October 31st).
The student will be notified of the admissions decision by
December 15th.
he student’s reply to an offer of admission is due by
January 15th.

ah, thank you, but I didn’t sign anything when I applied…

^ me too i didn’t sign anything either…

Your application was your signature, that prompt up there was presented multiple times before app submission to ensure you were knowing what you signed up for.

I am a little confused as to why I can choose accept/decline despite my ED application. Is this for those who must decline because they cannot atually pay for tuition or meet some special clause?

^I think that’s an interesting question, thescroll. Maybe Eirina will call admissions and find out how this is going to work if she wants to try to undo the ED.

“Your application was your signature, that prompt up there was presented multiple times before app submission to ensure you were knowing what you signed up for.”

I don’t think I/son got the “binding part”… for a CSU? Wow! I thought it was EA…I wasn’t too worried because this is a MAJOR reach for him, at least in his first choice of major. He would LOVE to get in to Cal Poly, but I’m not so sure…Uh oh…

riverrunner,

Great reply… very informative. Thanks.

HSenior,

How did you find out you got accepted without getting an email or it showing in the portal??

I also got accepted! I got an email saying congratulations and I am a conditional acceptance, does everyone get conditional? I got into Child Development
GPA: 3.79
ACT: 26

Anyone else only get a video and no paper mail acceptance yet? Anyone else get into Child Development?

^^^ Conditional just means that you actually graduate and your grades don’t go down, so it’s definitely important not to get a case of “senioritis” and let your GPA fall. I’m not sure what they would allow, but I wouldn’t get a D on any classes between now and then.

All admission status will continue to say “conditional” until Cal Poly receives your final transcripts after you finsih your senior year. If you accept, they will require that you send them your first semester transcript early in 2011, with the final to be sent after you finish high school.

@ prestonbrownie I saw it in my admission status area. Also, I found out later that I did get the email, it was just in my spam folder. By the way, does anyone know why my whole portal has changed but i can’t find the accept/decline button?

These people who are wanting to get out of their acceptances are bothering me…Cal Poly is the one place I REALLY want to go, and knowing that someone took a spot that could have been used for me and doesn’t even want it anymore is so very frustrating.

Amen kmillard92. It is super frustrating to get rejected for ED at my #1 school when the people who are lucky enough to get accepted are wanting out. Feeling very bummed and angry right now.

Does anyone know when I should expect the Kinesiology notification for ED?

GPA: 3.6
ACT: 31
-Leadership, 2x All-American Swimmer, lots of CS, taken courses in the medical range… ex. honors anatomy, sports medicine.

I am really nervous and im assuming because its a hot major it will take some time to come out but I was just wondering if anyone knew.

Thanks!
