Accepted Students Events: Info Sessions and Open House. Worth going?

Hi - my son will be attending PSU starting this summer session as a DUS freshman. We’ve visited the campus twice: once for a Summer Day and once for a football weekend. We’ve done the standard tour… and we’ll be going for the New Student Orientation this Spring. Will there be valuable new info at the Accepted Students events or are they mostly for the many students who applied and were accepted before actually visiting Happy Valley?

We are going 2/24. Have seen it twice also but now we are looking at it with a different set of eyes. …We are driving form NJ and have already booked hotel for the night before. Looking forward to it!

We’re going 2/17. Went for the Summer Day last summer too, but since I don’t feel we got to see everything then anyway, and nor did we talk to anybody in DUS, then I really don’t mind going again. It would also be nice to talk to Admissions people now that you both know you’re already admitted, so you can both talk in specifics. I just hope there’s no snowstorm happening when we drive up there…

We are going 3/16. We went for the Summer Day last summer as well, but hoping that the visit will help my son decide where he would like to go to college next year ( MSU, OSU and UMD also still in the running so will be visiting those as well…they all sound wonderful!) Does your son already have a roommate? If not, perhaps the perfect time to find one or meet up with some potentials?

@bruce – given what you’re describing, I wouldn’t take time off to come if you have far to travel and/or schedules to rearrange, particularly since he’s already decided to attend! The presentations are not incredibly different than what you’ve seen, and the weather can be awful – which keeps you stuck in buildings. I wouldn’t overthink it –

We are going on 3/2. We’ve been there many, many times because my husband and I are Alumni and we’ve taken the kids up for many events. My D also did the admission tour over the summer - but as @defndr11 said, she will be looking at it from a new set of eyes now that she knows she’s definitely attending there! We also want to talk to people in DUS. Plus we are only 2 hours away, so it’s an easy trip for us.
