I'm considering going to the accepted students reception in my area, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect. Thanks :)

It’s just a cocktail party with a bunch of alumni and usually some type of representative from the school, who makes a few remarks. It’s an opportunity to meet any other students who were admitted from your area and to begin to network. Nice to go–no big deal if you don’t.

Highly recommend going. You get to meet all the students from your area. Talking to the alumni is kinda cool but it’s really nice/convenient to find out who lives near you.

How do we find out about the dates and locations of these receptions? This is the first I’m hearing of them.

They’ll contact you – they usually don’t happen till summer, I think, and are sponsored by the Alumni Associations of the various metropolitan areas. I went to the one in DC, and really enjoyed it. Go if you can!

@agwin27, there was an invitation in my Open 'Dores packet

Any suggestions as to dress?

Typical dress is “business casual.”
