Accepted to one school, contact the others?

I applied to six graduate programs in geology. So far I have received:

*one offer of admission

*one interview

That leaves four schools that I have not heard from.

Should I go ahead and contact the remaining schools? If so, should I mention that I was already accepted to another school when I contact the POI in my program?

The professor who I would be working with is already asking me about potential research projects and I feel like it would be inappropriate to wait until April 15th until I respond with my decision about the offer.

Any advice/ personal experience in this area would be greatly appreciated!

You have every right to wait until April 15 unless you think that the offer you have is for your top choice. The one you have an offer from is clearly trying to court you and there is nothing wrong with that either.

Other schools know you’re dealing with acceptances/visits from other schools, so there’s no real reason to let them know anything until you know you are or aren’t going somewhere. I gave my notices well in advance of April 15 for most schools since I was 99% sure where I was going to attend, and just wanted to wait on the last to see if I got in off of any other wait lists prior to committing.
