ECs- not much, went to a few quiz bowl tourneys at BU and did ok for a freshman (im really excited to just go to practices for Chicago's team, since theyre nationally known), and a few other little things but nothing major..really I dont like it here

Physics/Econ double major registered here but ill probably pick one or the other at Chicago if i do go.

I applied and was accepted -- I'm not terrifically sure if I'll go yet, I'm still waiting on my top choice for transfer :P

Congratulations!

rainman- where is your top choice?

Cornell :x

I want some hills and trees

and haha, I'm from the Boston University honors program -- how 'bout that? What got your goat about BC?

haha thats great, and the BU-BC rivalry continues

I also applied to Cornell, not sure what id do if i got in yet.

BC is, as you know, extremely white, rich, preppy, and its not very intellectual. The physics and econ programs at Chicago obviously really drew me, especially with physics though at BC there are barely any upper division electives to take because the department is so small and its not very well funded, so the major doesnt have the depth that Chicago's program does. Econ, well everyone knows about that.

what dont you like about BU?

A lot of the same things you dislike about BC -- it's difficult to locate a coherent intellectual community. English at Chicago is good stuff, as it is at Cornell. I feel like more of a challenge, you know?

Best of luck with Cornell + congrats on Chicago :P

friend is applying from cornell to chicago lol

has almost the same stats

btw, what was your essay like? very out there or not as risky

mine wasnt so out there, i tried that more last year and it got me waitlisted haha..does your friend have the same GPA as I do at Cornell, because then he/she should be fine..a ~3.7 at Cornell is much better than at BC

yeah, about the same gpa

hes kinda worried that his courseload is really major focused (math) and not as general, I didnt think his essay was too crazy but you never know
