ACCEPTED w/ only a 1680/2400 SAT

I've been accepted to Villanova School of Business and the University of Rochester and I plan on studying Economics.

FACTORS:

Villanova:
I know people who graduated and attend here
It's well known which is important for getting my first job
I would have to try and walk-on to the football team
lack of diversity (I'm Af.Am)
closer to home (NYC)

UofRochester:
I was recruited to play football (DIII)
It's cold (I'm not fond of the winter)
Highly ranked academically
more diverse

Money is not a factor right now. I get a huge scholarship from my boarding school (school basically for poor kids)

1) Which school has a better employer reputation?
2) Which school is harder to get a higher GPA?

My main concern is having fun in college (things to do), getting a decent GPA, and being able to brag about the school I graduated from (mainly for employers). And I want to do management consulting out of college.

Definitely Rochester

Villanova School of Business was just ranked #15 by Business Week - ahead of schools like Georgetown and MIT. My friend at VSB tells me employers recruit heavily and she got a prestigious internship for this summer.

thanks for the response!
@HelenH could you explain a little bit why I should pick Rochester?
@Sunny100 thanks sounds pretty accurate

I’ve just been accepted to George Washington University now too…what’s your take on that, with GWU in the mix?

Econ is one of the easier majors to get a high GPA in. With enough work, I am sure that you can attain a high GPA in both schools. Personally, I am choosing Rochester because I love how I can pursue the curriculum and not just blindly follow it. Rochester also has one of the best undergrad econ programs in the country. For employment, it really depends on how proactive you are, but I know that Rochester professors’ hound their students to participate in research, which is good for employment and grad school.

it seems to me that Villanova will set me up for a better job. but im not afraid to have to network to get what I want, it’s just not one of my strengths. I want the quality of life and academics. I may be wrong but Rochester just doesn’t seem to offer both…if anyone disagrees, feel free to sway me otherwise

I go to Villanova now and I don’t recommend it!!

@kimm328
congratulations! you are the first person to say anything negative about Villanova lol…why so? what do you study? why dont you recommend it?

Haha the people are really snobby, there is really nothing to do besides like basketball and football games. It’s isolated ( closest city is Philly and its a 15 min walk to train station and 30 min train ride) umm idk I don’t like a lot of things about it haha but so many people on the other hand do love it! That’s why I decided to go I thought I would too! I’m studying psych and French the business school is really good th

where are you from? I don’t think that’s horrible. There’s a mid-sized city from my school which is 15-20 minutes by car from my campus and it’s accessible because we can’t just drive off campus. that doesn’t sound too bad…seems better than UofRoc that

what school would you prefer instead of Villanova?
