Accepted!

I'm so happy for your family. Congratulations!

Congrats to your gS pats on back! New paths to exciting opportunities for him to explore. What terrific support you have provided. He's a blessed young man.

jhsu - of course, you are right. It just didn't feel to us like there was a safety. And we had many ,mmm, constraints to consider re what would be a comfortable place for him. A cc or small state college with rolling admissions and post April application dates was our fallback, but I was always worried about how his courage would hold up if two rejections had rolled in. But now, my tune is : What, me worry?

Yippee!!!!

JMMom, I don't recall the story of your grandson but I am so happy at his wonderful news and I hope everyone at your house is celebrating! It is really cool that he and your son have this exciting new step of their lives before them. I think it is particularly exciting when a child who did not go straight to college and may have had some difficulties or challenges (sorry that I am not clear on what these were) and who has lower stats in terms of admissions, can find some direction and move toward some positive changes and take advantage of opportunities to move forward with his life. Some do not take that path and I am proud of your grandson that he has found his way and that the colleges have accepted him! Things are looking bright for him!

My older daughter's close friend with whom she graduated last year, is a freshman at UNH and she is an excellent student. UNH is a pretty good school. Your grandson did well getting in there. This is the first step toward his moving forward and I'm glad he is taking it. It is a very wonderful thing to read about. I hope he makes the most of it and I hope you guys enjoy seeing him take this path. He done good!

Susan

jmmom, congratulations. I have two good friends that graduated from UNH. They both liked the school.

Woo Hoo!!!!!!

YES YES YES!!!!!

I am so glad to hear he was accepted and to more than one!!!! And you were so worried!!! I know you were originally concerned about him being able to keep up with the workload and have a supportive network around him after he was in college. Has that situation been rectified?

I am sure you (and he especially!!) will enjoy going to the bookstore and picking up a sweatshirt for your husband and yourself. You all must be so proud! I am so very happy for you all. I can only imagine how his self-confidence level must be through the roof!

CONGRATS TO HIM and a job well-done to you.

Kat

jmmom,
Congratulations! What a heart-warming story. I think great things are in store for your grandson.
I teach at a community college and most of my students did not attend college right after high school. Most of them had to take a year or more off after high school, because of financial and/or personal reasons. As they say, "life happens". But many of these students do just fine and go on to great success. Congratulations again!

Thank you all. I never realized how warming these congrats threads are until I was on the receiving end.

katw - no rest for the weary :) . Making sure he is ready/supported is the gear we have whipped into now! H is the one who took the call from gS yesterday and, natch,he forgot to ask whether acceptance was for Thompson School (which is good for "underprepared" students) or College of Engineering. If the latter, we have ideas of how to help him be ready and get support. Guess I won't have any post-April 1 letdown. Plenty to work on. :) :)again

Warmest congratulations!

jmmom,

What a wonderful experience for you and your grandson! It is such a blessing when things work out! FABULOUS NEWS! All the best to you and all your family!

jmmom,

I am so happy for you and your GS. Unlike the hair-split difference between HYPS & AWS, this college acceptance will make a huge difference in his life!!
BRAVO :) :) :)

Booyah! Good job g'ma

Wow! I somehow missed this thread earlier. Granny (;)), tell your gS that yemaya and yemayo say

CONGRATS!!!

Congratulations! It is wonderful to hear that there is a spot for everyone who is motivated enough (or has such a great grandmother) to find it.
