Hi guys, I know in the past you could accept loans offered for finaid anytime you want throughout the year as long as you don't decline them. This is still true, right? Recently I've been getting at least 4 emails from financial aid telling me to accept my aid, and I just don't need the loans right now, but the constant emails are making me doubt myself. Can you accept them at a later time?

I THINK you can accept later on. However, that will probably only last a short time. You should call the Financial Aid Office.

i know that you can accept one loan and still have the others as offered or decline, but i don’t know how long it’ll be offered for. if anything you should accept federal subsidized loans if you have any b/c those are the ones where the govt pays interest while you’re in college

I remember emailing the financial aid office a while back about this, and they said…

“If you decide that you don’t actually need to accept all the loans
you’ve been offered just yet, you have the option of accepting them
at any point during the fall, winter and spring quarters.”

Hope this helps! :-)

Thank you guys, that helps a lot! :)

Good tip too, moey. You made me realize I might want to take out those subsidized loans anyway so I can pay my interest for unsubsidized loans or save it for next year since I’m capped at 2k per year to take out subsidized loans.

when i accept the loan does the money go to my bank account? i’m sending in all the paper work in today

It first goes to pay for your tuition automatically if you have any fees to pay.

Then it will be sent to you through either check in the mail or directly to your bank. You must choose or else it will just be sent to your mail, I believe. Go to Zot Account student billing system and go to DEFT to choose. <a href=“UCInetID Secure Web Login”>UCInetID Secure Web Login;

@poorcookie, no problem! just be wise with your money/be sure to remember it’s loans! although you don’t seem like the irresponsible type. i just remember i’d be confused when /why people would be so excited when financial aid would come in and go on a shopping spree… until i realized people were just doing whatever with their financial aid money…

Oh man, I agree! My friend once told me “When I get my finaid money I’m gonna go buy…” Wow, buddy. I’ve got enough loans and interest to pay back, I’d rather not waste any of it :/
