Accommodation near City College of New York

I transferred to City College for this Spring and I am looking for some cheap place to stay nearby. Are there some students that are doing so, and would you share some experiences, like the cost and the quality of living. I live in Astoria right now, but I would rather pay for a rent then pay for MTA cards and plus travel each day for an hour in one direction.

Thanks.

Hiya! I also go to City, but it’s my second semester. I’ll let you know something, the best price you can really get is by sharing a 3 or 4 bedroom apartment, for 1800-2000 in the area. Each person could get their own bedroom, and it’d cost about 500-700 per person.

But even that scenario exceeds the cost of a Metrocard (112 per month, for eight months total). It’s highly unlikely you’ll find a studio cheaper than 900-1000, so that’s why splitting a 3-4 bd apartment is the optimal choice.
