Webster expects you to bring your own accompaniment to the Chicago Unifieds correct? Also, I’m a bit confused about the bringing of a tape with you singing, how should I go about doing this? Thank you so much!

My D is currently attending Webster in MT and she auditioned at the Chicago Unifieds last year. She brought both CD, audio tape, and her sheet music to every audition that way she was prepared for anything. If I'm not mistaken, there was a pianist in the audition room playing her sheet music. I'm sure Plaidman will pipe in to clarify for you. Hope this helps. Break a leg!

Sorry for the double post. Computer displayed and error so I retyped.

I just got an email today that said we have to bring our own accompaniment, but like SEATA said it is definitely a smart idea to have everything with you, so you are prepared. I called them today and left a message because I had no idea about having to make a recording of yourself singing, and I'm not sure how I should make that recording. I would've done it today in my voice lesson, but I didn't know :( Does anyone know if you can record/how you record yourself on a Macbook?

We were lucky in that my D's voice teacher had a recording device. However, most cassette players can also record. If you (or someone you know) don't have one, you could purchase a digital voice recorder which plugs into your computer's USB port so you can copy it to a CD. Perhaps your voice teacher knows someone who has equipment that you could borrow.

My D took a cassette recording to the audition; one she made during a voice lesson with the same songs that she was auditioning with. When she went to leave it, they said it was okay; they didn't need it. Luckily, she received an offer to Webster because that could have been a bad sign, but it seems as if they knew what they wanted.

Re: recording on a Macbook -

You can record yourself singing with your accompaniment on a Macbook using Garage Band. I can't give you the specifics of how to do it - sorry! - but my kids have made recordings before and it seemed fairly easy.

If you can't figure out how to do it you could probably post the question on the main MT message board and get some helpful answers.

Thank you all for your help. A friend told me how to do it on GarageBand so I'm going to cut the 16 bars of each song from my CD from my voice lesson. Thanks again!
