Hi,

I live around the San Jose, CA area. Graduated last june from UCI with a Bus Econ degree and am unable to get a job and feel quite inadequate. I've been thinking of going back to school, and had a few questions.

I was thinking of heading in the accounting direction, and I was wondering how important it is to have a degree in accounting to employers. The reason i'm asking, is i would like to get more education in accounting, but i feel terrible having to get my parents to come up with the money. So i was deciding between taking the required accounting classes (for the CPA) at community colleges around my area (De Anza, Foothill, West Valley) or going to SJSU for the actual Bachelor's degree.

I guess one thing im' asking is, If i were to be able to sit for and get my CPA, how important is it to employers that i have gotten a degree in Accounting. Would taking classes at community colleges around here be sufficient in preparing me to be an adequate accountant (also, do the community colleges have good internship/job opportunities?) Would it be very important for my career development to get a second bachelors for accounting (considering SJSU mostly)

2) This probably requires me to also ask, what types of accounting jobs are out there, who might i want to work for, and what kind of work do accountants do exactly? I know some of it may be working with the three financial statements, but if someone could send me some information about the field and what choices i have, i'd be very grateful.

in a rough spot now, and trying to not be a burden -_-
