Accounting research in high school?

So I see all the time engineers, and future medical majors go to their local universities to do research, and love it.

My question is, can future accounting majors do the same thing?
I'm liking accounting so far at my community college..
I'm a rising senior, and excited to start the senior stress, lol!

What are some good research ideas (if universities do this) for accounting majors?
I'm passionate about sports, criminology, and I'd like to learn more about tax, as I would like to concentrate on this aspect. (Maybe taxguy can give some insight? lol ;))

If anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated!

Accounting research is akin to legal research. You really have to have the research skills and have a good grasp of accounting principles or tax.

In my humble opinion, forget about doing accounting research in high school. Just focus on skill development, which means developing good critical reading and math skills. You will get more than enough accounting theory in college.
