Accounting vs. Finance - Which is better?

<p>Which of these 2 (and other business and economics degrees) are better for job security, starting and potential salary, job - 'fun' factor, and anything else?</p>

<p>I wish someone would answer you because I need to know this as well. O and turns out that there is about a semesters worth of classes separating the two majors… just something to think about if your stuck at a cross road.</p>

<p>Unless you go to a school like Wharton, Accounting is the superior degree in every way possible after school. As for “during” school, that is something only you can answer.</p>

<p>In terms of job safety and being almost guaranteed a respectable salary after graduation Accounting is the way to go. It is the most universal business degree</p>

<p>however, don’t let that stop you from choosing Finance. I am a Finance and Economics double major and I enjoy Finance a lot more than Accounting. I know with an Accounting degree all kinds of doors are opened to you but my personal saying is I want to be the one making decisions, not recording them.</p>

  • which is one of an Accounting degree’s advantages. But as you said, you enjoy Finance and don’t enjoy accounting courses - which is a legitimate reason not to major in Accounting.</p>
