So I am an accounting graduate student and have taken a couple of classes in operations management. I have found operations to be much more interesting and am now even considering changing majors. Operations appears to be as functional as accounting but much more innovative and interesting. My only hesitation is giving up the job security of accounting. Is this the case with operations? Where do the jobs lie? Thanks

Visit job sites like Monster or Indeed to get a sense of the operations management/supply chain/logistics jobs out there.

Manufacturing plant management, logistics management, import/export and port operations are natural destinations. Accounting may have a higher starting salary, but if operations management is a budding passion whereas accounting is not, be brave.

I heard the job market for Supply Chain management is pretty good.

This is only my 2nd semester so I probably just need to give it more time. I just wonder if the courseload will ever get easier. Just seems like an insane amount of work to prep each week. I am in Cost Accounting now and I enjoy that. I was a little disappointed with my first exam grade but maybe I am not doing enough repetition of my hw problems. I just purchased a study guide and that really seems to be helping.

Basically, I just want to be successful in my career and i study hard for these exams only to get discouraged after receiving my grade back.
