Accuracy of Financial Aid Calculator of Harvard and General Estimate of Aid

Citizenship, Residence, and Schooling - India

Colleges - MIT, Harvard, Pton, Yale

Only Harvard has a calc which shows aid for internationals. I got cost to parents as $15000 per year. I have heard stories from people saying the actual amount is more than 5 times shown for Indians. If this is true, there is no point in applying.

Some stats

Annual Income - $25000
Assets (including real estate) - $500000

Can someone give me an estimate of the aid I may receive at the top 4 colleges as an Indian? And how accurate is the Harvard thing? (does anyone have actual experience?)

PS - We do not own our primary home but pay rent to a relative who owns it. However, we have another property (included in assets above) which we lease on rent. Everything is converted to USD from INR using the current conversion rate (1USD 70INR). Harvard’s calculator had a place where one has to enter real estate assets (excluding primary home). Now, I entered $500000 there but in reality, I do not own my primary home so I am not sure how to accurately portray that.

5 x $15K = $75K. COA at Harvard = 67K. So people are telling you that the Indians they know at Harvard are full pay / no financial aid.

Unfortunately, nobody can give you an estimate. There are too many variables- including the fact that your family has rental property, which messes up the calculators anyway.
