does anyone know what's up with ACES? everytime i try to log on it takes me to some weird oracle site and says something about an authorization error. I thought the maintenance period was over?

the "go live" date for ACES has been pushed back to July 16th. In the mean time, for urgent administrative needs, contact the appropriate Duke offices directly.

I don't know why you were having that specific issue but they said that ACES would be down until today but it was pushed back to tomorrow. I get this message when I try to access the site:

System Maintenance

We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the go-live for the "New" ACES has been delayed until tomorrow, July 16th. Please contact the appropriate registrar's office if you need urgent enrollment information, including transcript requests or enrollment verifications.

So it should be up again tomorrow.

thanks guys :)

i don't like the new aces

me neither.

New features are nice, but very disorganized. I feel like I'm suffering a bit from information overload when on it. The layout is also reminiscent of Dukepass. I think I'll need to dig a bit deeper before passing judgment.

Browsing classes is quite the adventure. I agree with SBR...disorganized.

Anyone try and enroll in a class with a permission number, by chance?

Wow have you guys checked out the view bookbag feature? it looks like i have twice as many classes as before...

Yeah and they got rid of the cool colored block schedules!

yea, i don't think the other "features" are necessary... i liked the old, convenient aces... i don't get why it had to be changed...

I bet they're going to get alot of backlash against this. No one seems to be particularly happy about it. Right now there appears to be no way to sort classes by semester when you're "browsing" so you get a giant list of a billion classes, most of which are never offered. Then the color block scheduling...guess we took that for granted because the new views they prevent are completely and utterly useless. I now use the facebook courses application because it gives me the same thing. The only thing I think is remotely useful is the "planner" which, i mean, how many of us even keep the same schedule during drop/add.

Ugh.

Maybe I'm just bitter about trying to change my schedule around for like, 2 hours earlier.

I expected to see a thread on this - the new ACES is horrible. It's already broken/unavailable on the first day. When I saw it earlier it was very unclear and also some of the requirements on the new version of the advisement report are inaccurate for me. I couldn't get the course catalogue to work either. The old system was clear and easy to use - definitely no reason to change ACES especially to make it worse. I am glad it won't really affect me since I only have to do this one more time, good luck to everyone who has to deal with this for 4 years.

Maybe they will work out the bugs later but right now I don't like it. The old aces was simpler and more organized. I'm not sure any of the new features are really worth the extra headache of learning a new system. I guess I'll fool around with it for a little bit before I really decide I hate the change but I think that the rule that simpler is always better is being ignored here.

haha, the new ACES display of schedule makes my mondays look like hell. Out of all those hourly blocks on mondays I only have 3 empty. I think I might start using Outlook for calendar needs from now on.

yea, seriously...... schedules look awful on the new aces haha

thanks duke!

Old ACES :)

New ACES :(

Questions?

New Aces is so slow! Also the course search function is like when I looked for classes at UNSW. I hate that system.

oh man... i really hope they actually bring back the old ACES, the colors really do help.

I just wasted way too much time making my own color-block schedule.

AWESOME. (sarcasm)
