So I wrote my SAT's twice back in the day (1200 and then 1260 out of 1600, SAT's were not my strongpoint but I did even worse on the SAT II's. Well I'm sending out my SAT's for a transfer app.....how much of a role will they play? I will also be sending my ACT's which I did much better on (30).....because College Board sends everything.....it worries me. I wrote my SAT's and SAT II's like 4 years ago (My most recent SAT's were written two years ago). I'll be applying to Georgetown.

If you are a junior level transfer, your test scores/hs stats will wiegh less in your application.

Anyway, isn't Georgetown's app. due March 1 or 15? That's plenty of time to retake those SATs in case those old scores pull you down. Also, I recommend you to schedule an interview with one of their representatives and have a look at your academic standing. I've spoken to a couple people here on CC who transferred successfully to Georgetown and they said that interviews can help you a lot.

megtfs, I wouldn't fret too much about your SATs. But if you think you need to get a higher score then study for it; like pellman said, the app isn't due until March 1st. If you want to send your old score, contact the admissions office to make sure it will be accepted; I think they might have switched over to the new SAT.

Bur for reassurance, I got into GU as a transfer for fall 06 with an SAT score below the 25% mark and I took it in fall 03. Your GPA and essays will be the most important factors.

yeah i agree. Take it again.I got the same score as you on the SAT 1 when i took it in high school. I didn't even know what the 'SAT 2' was. Now i'm applying to stanford as a junior transfer and they're saying 2 SAT 2 subject tests are required. They also said they require the NEW sat 1 test- well, when i took it years ago, the new version didn't even exist- so i have to take the SAT 1 again.I'm taking everything on January 27th since applications aren't due till march.

sat2s not required

racnna, I don't think you can take the SAT I and SAT II's on the same day. It has to be on different test dates.

Thanks for your advice all. I'll be transferring as a soph but I've been out of uni for now for like two years (living abroad) so I'm really not sure about retaking the exams considering i retook my ACT's and SAT's while still in uni. That said I think contacting them is a good idea. I'm pretty sure all Georgetown transfers have an optional alumni interview though. Thanks for the tips.
