I recently took the ACT and I am very pleased with my scores - and I do not wish to take the SAT II's unless I really have to. So can anyone fill me in on what top universities accept the ACT in place of SAT1/SAT2? Here is my potential list:

Yale
Columbia
NYU Stern
Brown
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)
Dartmouth
Berkeley
Cornell
UCLA
Northwestern
Boston College

Most of the time, schools will require ACT/SAT scores, along with SAT2’s if the school is very selective. You can’t get around not having SAT2’s if the school requires them. I haven’t heard of very many that require SAT + SAT2 or ACT. If there are a few, they’re likely not highly ranked schools like you have on your list. Check each school’s requirements.

Most schools will accept the ACT in place of SAT1, though.

I agree with Kitten. This is NOT something you want to be guessing about. However, I can categorically state that these schools on your list will accept ACT in lieu of SAT & SAT IIs

Brown, Yale, Columbia, Penn.

For Cornell, it depends upon which school you’re applying – they have differing rules.

SCHOOLS THAT REQUIRE SUBMISSION OF SUBJECT TESTS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER APPLICANT TAKES SAT OR ACT:

California Institute of Technology
Carnegie Mellon University ¶ – exception: non-architecture majors, College of Fine
Arts (neither required nor recommended)
Cornell University (NY) – exception: applicants to Agriculture/Life Sciences and to
Industrial/Labor Relations (Subject Tests optional for these schools)
Dartmouth College (NH)
Franklin Olin College of Engineering (MA)
Harvard/Radcliffe Colleges (MA)
Harvey Mudd College (CA)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Princeton University (NJ)
Webb Institute of Naval Architecture (NY) – note: Webb does not accept ACT
Williams College (MA)

SCHOOLS THAT WILL ACCEPT ACT IN LIEU OF BOTH SAT AND SUBJECT TESTS:

Amherst College (MA)
Barnard College (NY)
Boston College (MA)
Brown University (RI)
Bryn Mawr College ¶ – note: other testing options obtain—see college entry
Columbia University (NY)
Duke University (NC)
Haverford College ¶
McGill University (PQ)
Pomona College (CA)
Rice University (TX)
Swarthmore College ¶ – note: other testing options obtain—see college entry
Tufts University (MA)
University of Pennsylvania
Vassar College (NY)
Wellesley College (MA)
Wesleyan College (CT)
Yale University (CT)

I could understand not taking the SAT if you had a very high or perfect ACT score, but good SATII subject test scores may bolster your application even in schools that do not require them.

Yes I did take the writing portion of the ACT as well. I will take the subject tests next year I suppose but I think my composite score of 33 is solid enough in combination with my GPA/IB predicted grades which are excellent.
