ACT only?

just for clarification, if one decides to turn in only the ACT score, then the subject tests are not required, correct?

correct, as long as you take ACT + writing.

Though you are both technically correct, don't do it. Take and submit SAT IIs unless you are from a crappy school in a podunk town in ACT territory and can legitimately claim to not to know what an SAT II is, or if your scores are like sub-600. I've heard it uttered many a time that they kind of get puzzled when they see an ACT score w/o SAT IIs, especially if you are from an SAT state. That could be wrong, of course, but I wouldn't take the chance.

Yea...I just got my SAT II scores today and needless to say, they were not pretty. (well, Bio M was good (680), but Literature and US History were not too good.) I'm planning on taking the Math IIC and retaking Literature. Should I retake Bio M if that is my intended major?

I was not going to send in any SAT II scores and just send in my ACT, but as drummerdude_07 mentioned, I come from an SAT state and that probably would seem a little fishy if I didn't submit some form of the SAT...

Yale requires either the SAT I or the ACT. Students who submit scores for the SAT I are also required to take two of the SAT II Subject Tests. They may take any two subject tests of their choosing. The middle 50 percent of Yale's entering class this year had scores between 700 and 790 on both the verbal and the math sections of the SAT I.

From Yale's Admissions FAQ

Yes, we know they SAY that, but I've heard from a lot of people that the people making the decisions usually think it odd when they see an ACT score alone from someone from an SAT area.

They are going to see all of those scores anyway, and your SAT I. If you raise them in the future, that isn't such a bad thing. But you absolutely cannot tell them that you are trying to major in Bio with a 680 SAT II. That just isn't going to fly. If you don't get it beyond the 700 mark at the very least, it will be a major drain on your application if you talk about your love for Bio or put Bio down as your major. It never hurts to put "undecided".

If Bio is central to your app, sending just the ACT might actually be the less risky of two bad options.

I don't mean to rain on your parade - I certainly couldn't get a 680 on the Bio exam!
