I did a diagnostic test for both without any practice. I haven’t done geometry in 3 years.
ACT- 28
SAT New- 1240
For ACT, I am aiming for 35 and for SAT, 1500 or above. Which one do you think will be easier?

your act score is better than the sat, so looks like act could be easier, tough to judge on diagnostic tests, but that would be my choice.
Not to sound harsh, but it’s going to be extremely difficult to improve your score that much on either test no matter how much work you do. Making that large of an improvement is very rare, though still possible. Neither is going to be easy, but I’d try the ACT because for most of the sections it’s basically the same test with different questions each time, so once you learn all of the topics fully they’re applicable to any problem.
I agree that you should stick with the ACT. It’s easier to improve your score and the test is more straightforward. However, set a reaslistic goal for yourself. I think you can reasonably aim for 30-32. As for the SAT, I think it’s next to impossible to raise your score by that much, and you will put a ton of pressure on yourself if you try to do so. A 100 point gain is reasonable, maybe even 150, but 260 points is not.
Stay with the ACT. There is much more study material and old test available to practice with. My daughter went from a 27 ACT with no practice to a 34 ( on her 3rd try). Her first ACT was in October, last one in February. With less than 6 months of focused review weekly she was able to improve her score from a 27 to a 34. She studied about 3 hours a week and took a practice diagnostic under test conditions every other Saturday for 3 months.
If those sre from one practice test of each, it is inconclusive. It can go either way.
