ACT prep

What is the best way to prep for the ACT, the first time i got a 27 and i would like to raise it to a 30. Any suggestions. First time i took it i did not prep at all, except for one practice test.

Either purchase or loan any sort of book from any of the big "test prepping titans" (PR, Kaplan, etc.) and the real ACTs book might help too.

Do practice tests as iljets10 said.

List what scores you received one your first ACT.. that should help.

I have the kaplan SAT book and i havent considered taking the act till know. so will it be okay just to study the sat book for the act test or should i go out and buy another act book? and what is a good site to study for the act?

Scores were:
English-27
Math-30
Reading-23
Science-29

Reason why the reading is so low is that i moved from Mexico 2 and 1/2 years ago. In class they teach us proper grammer and mechanics but the program on reading comprehension is not very rigerous.

Hope this helps.

The ACT is considerably different than the SAT. I'd go with an ACT-specific book if I were you. Although, I have seen a few people comment that they feel their previous studying for the SAT test benefited them when they took the ACT also.

If you want that thirty, you need to find a way to make all of your scores add up to 118. (118/2 = 29.5, which rounds to 30.)

Right now your total is 109. You need to find a way to move up a total of 9 points. A place for an easy gain for you seems to be reading. Just read things everyday, work on your speed, but make sure your not reading so fast that your not fully understanding the passage. It might help if you read things that you find boring.

Thank You for all the help

Best prep for ACT is real ACT book + Cracking the ACT.

hey guys thanks for all the really good advice!
