does anyone have any preference as to which act prep book would be most helpful? i got a 26 my first time, and i'm looking for a 30! any help would be appreciated.

I've been using princeton review's cracking the act and it's very useful and easy to understand. I hear barron's has much harder tests than the actual thing which may or may not be a good thing for you.

Whichever book you get, be sure to buy the Real ACT Guide just for the actual ACT tests.

i've heard the same about barron's. i'm not sure whether or not it would help me. have you been preparing by just taking practice tests over and over again? is there anything else you have been doing to improve?

I'm just going through every part of the PR book (reading the guides, doing the drills). I did one practice just to get a feel of the test. This Saturday will be the first time for me. By then, I'm going to do around 3 more practice tests (1 from PR, two from Real ACT [I want to save some for next time])
I also made flash cards for some math formulas I may forget or may not be able to do in my calculator. Be sure to know how to use your calc to your benefit --many of the questions (like factoring) can be done faster if you know what you're doing with the calc
