I took the ACT in my freshmen year and I got an 18 which is not really good. I want to know how to improve this score.I think I was a little iffy on the science section.
I think you may be more than a little iffy on the science section :-(. Can you post your subscores? and what level of Math are you in now?
Honestly, I don’t think it was a really bad score considering your grade level. It could be possible that you didn’t have the courses needed to cover the topics on the ACT. Compare the classes you were in and the classes you’re in now. Look at the subscores and breakdown of each of the ACT tests. Take practice exams, find common errors, and go over those topics with your teachers or a tutor. Make sure you are pacing yourself and, as hard as it may be, don’t stress too much.
I don’t think you should take it again until junior year if you are just using the ACT as your college entrance exam. By junior year, you will cover much of the material through your regular classes. I believe that you made a mistake taking it freshman year, since some colleges do want all of your scores… but nothing can be done now. If you really want to start preparing now, you should take practice tests, review your mistakes, and see what you need to learn. If there are giant gaps in your knowledge, you should consider getting a tutor or trying an online program. I used Prepscholar, which is $400. However, I do not feel like it was worth it to me because I was already doing well. It was like I was buying way more than I needed, but something like that could be right for you.
OP can delete the bad score.
