My school's paying for all of us juniors to take the ACT in March. I've prepped for this test since the summer of 2013 but I feel like I've hit a stopping point. After all of my prep, I scored a 26 on the test, expecting a higher score. I did some PR review testing and so far have scored 27's in English and Math, however, I know I can score higher in English and a little higher in Math. For Reading and Science, it's the time that's an issue for me (but if everyone had as much time as they needed, they would also score higher). I have scored 29 in Reading Freshman year and a 31 in science Sophomore year but the other scores were not as high. If there are tips you can give me or if there are any other books I can practice from that will really help, please let me know, as it'll help me on the test that I must take on my birthday.

The next test is April 12. No test in March.

Maybe you have more time than you think!.

Have you used real ACT tests to study with?

Timing yourself is very important.

This is one my school is giving and is official. It is for all the juniors in my school. I have timed myself on all of my practice tests but what do you mean by Real ACTS?

I mean tests that have been released by the ACT Company; I should have been clearer.

The Real ACT Prep Guide 3rd edition has 5 real tests.

Good luck!

For:
Math/Reading - I think practice is key. Do as many practice problems as you can and get used to the format. Also, pace yourself
Science - Don’t even read the paragraph on the left page that explains what the experiment is about. Go straight to the questions because you can easily answer them without reading the paragraph.

I stopped ALL preparation for the ACT a week before the day of the test so I could relax the whole week.
Get a good night’s sleep before the test, and most importantly, DON’T be nervous.

By doing this, I raised my ACT score to 31 (26 the first time I took it)

@CouchPotato25- Some very good stuff.

I will add one tidbit of advice. Speed up your reading comprehension. This is something important in all of the sections. To do this, don’t bother with practice problems or anything, just pick up a fun book and read it. I mean something like Star Wars, Star Trek, Tom Clancy, Vampires, whatever you’re into.

Also check your calculator. You want to be using the most powerful calculator allowed on the test (Ti-84 Plus Silver). Download some ACT programs into it.
