ACT Question

Hello,

I was hoping for help regarding the ACT test- If one wanted to take the ACT again- does one have to take the writing again too? Can you use the writing score from the previous test and the ACT score from another test to submit?

Also, does the same exist for SAT too?

Thanks!

I do not know the answer for schools that super score but for those that do not you would be throwing away a test.

@TiggerMom Re: ACT you canNOT use the writing score from one test and the ACT from another. You could submit both testing dates which would have the act with writing and then just the act (if you take it again without writing), but you can’t just submit a “writing only” portion. Many get into this situation because in my instance, my child scored very high on the ACT, but low on the essay. For schools that require writing, this bothered my child. So they decided to take the entire test again. For the schools that only want the ACT and do not require writing, my child was concerned they would see the writing, even if they say they don’t require or consider. Most say that writing, even if considered, is not a big part in the admissions anyhow because a college can look at the student’s written essays on the common apps and supplements. I believe this rule holds true for the SAT too…but you could probably look on the college board website!
