Can I send both ACT scores?

Hi!

So I got a 32 on the ACT, and got a 36 on writing, and I was wanting to retake it again to improve my score.
I was wondering if I could just take the ACT without writing, and hypothetically let’s say the composite score improved to a 33. If I send both set of scores to colleges, will they accept the 36 on the writing from the previous test alongside the composite score of 33 from the most recent one? Or will they only count the 33 and disregard the writing score from the previous exam?

Thanks so much!

It depends on college and the issue you face is that most which require the writing if you submit ACT do not tell you on their sites what they do if you submit both one with writing and one without, and thus you can only get your answer by contacting the college and asking. Some may use the one without writing and some won’t. And the fact that a college may superscore ACTs is not determinative since it may not use the one without writing at all.
