ACT reading strategies dilemma

alright, i am having a dilemma here.

I read 2 books about the ACT and their strategies for the reading are different

Crash Course for the ACT

ACT for Dummies

1 is saying don't read the passage and just go to the questions and use the passage without reading it to answer the questions

2 is saying take 3 minutes to read the passage and spend like 35 seconds per question.

I do not know which strategy to use. I like to skim the passage.

What do you think and what strategies do you use for good scores?

the official ACT prep says the truth about reading. there is NO actual strategy for reading, everyone has their own way… If you are a fast reader that doesnt easily forget what u just read, then reading the passage may be th best for you. If you like to skim for answers then go from questions to passage. Practice every way multiple times on practice tests and see which is best for you.

i unfortunately have still not found a great way but i try to manage :P

I read the questions quick, then read the passage in like 1.5 min then answer the questions. It always leaves me with 10 min to check over my answers quick… so yeah reading works for me

Read the first passage last! I swear that 75% of the time, first passage is the hardest and will waste the most time.

I personally read the passage before even looking at the questions. Then I might write little notes down on the side.
