ACT/SAT studying and advises

I have a 26 for ACT and a 1790 for SAT. I am planning on studying this summer and will take the tests again once school starts, in September and October. I've noticed many students here at College Confidential have pretty high test scores, 30+ ACT, 2000+SAT...etc. Taking these tests frustrates me a lot since I've been preparing for a while but for some reason every time I check the scores, they are not as high as I hope I would get. Maybe I'm not a good test taker. I only have 2-3 months of time to study some more and maybe some changes to my studying will help? I am aiming for a 30 for ACT an a 1900 for SAT.
I am really impressed by people who have really high scores even without much preparation~ Wow, do you high scorers have any tips and advises for me to study for one last time during the summer before taking the tests again?
I am looking into universities like UCLA, UC Berkeley, UW, even though I know that these schools have a much higher average test scores than the ones I have now.

Thanks!

Read the pinned topics in the SAT prep section, specifically xiggi’s guide and silverturtle’s guide. Follow their system for either exam and you should boost your scores by a lot.

I pretty much just did practice exams.

Shmoop and Cliffnotes have free online tips for last minute crammers. If you have time, try to sign up for a prep-camp.

Your goals are certainly doable, although a 4 point jump on the ACT won’t be easy. If you dedicate a good amount of time over the summer to studying, your goals will become a reality.
If you haven’t already, start off by getting the Red Book (The Real ACT) and the Blue Book (College Board Official SAT Study Guide). Just doing practice tests and reviewing what you did wrong will help you improve. You can also use these practice tests to find you problem areas (such as vocabulary, geometry, comparing reading passages, etc) and find more practice for these online.
Find out if your school offers any free prep. I was able to get the Princeton Review Self Paced SAT Online course for free through my school; you might be able to find something similar.

Your best bet for success will to be study a little bit all summer, not wait until September and then suddenly try studying hours every day.
