ACT scores - Exeter and Andover

Hi guys,

I’ve recently completed my applications for Exeter (January 14th) and Andover (January 31st) with the exception of my standardized exam scores.

Both schools are fine with their applicants taking a standardized exam in February. I was originally an applicant for Grade 11, however, I requested both schools to consider me as 10th grade applicant.

It is worth mentioning as the SSAT isn’t available in my country, I’m doing the ACT instead for the February 2020 session.

The main point I want to inquire about right now is what do you presume would be a suitable ACT score for boarding schools like Exeter and Andover? I feel that a 30 or above should be acceptable but I’m not sure. I’m aware typically a 90+ percentile on the SSAT is considered good enough but I’m not sure how that would translate towards the ACT scores, especially as the former is typically considered as a prep-school entrance exam whilst the latter is typically associated towards colleges.

I mentioned above about 30 being a suitable score, however, do you all reckon that perhaps a lower score may also be (somewhat) acceptable (especially for a 10th grade applicant). Like perhaps a 27-28?

Depends on the strength of the rest of your application.
