Act Sub

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about taking the ACT in substitution for the SAT I and II’s. I know it depends on the university of course. Does anyone know if this works for NYU, UMich, Vandy or Emory? I couldn’t find much info abt it online.

It does for Emory, I do not know about the others however, check their web sites. My S got into Emory last year with just an ACT, he did not end up going however.

Vandy will take either.

All schools except it in place of the SAT I, except for Princeton, which will only accept it if all the other schools you are applying to accept only the ACT (so, in other words, they don't accept it).

Not all school. Rice does not, and I know there were a few others but can't recall now. It is imp to check their web sites

I'll check for NYu and umich specifically. Thanks for your help guys

Rice does take the ACT. And UMich certainly does - it's in the heart of ACT-land. Lots of midwestern kids don't even take the SAT.

I think the question was using the ACT in place of the SAT II. All schools do take the ACT in place of SAT I. Rice could have changed from last year. I do know that last year it was the only school my S needed to send his SAT II's to. Sorry, if it has changed it's policy since last year, better check their web site too!

some schools take it in place of SATI others take it in place of SATI and SATII's. only about 5 students out of 550 from my school take the SAT's. Most dont even know what it is!!!
