ACT Test Prep?

Any suggestions on tutoring companies / test prep companies to prepare for the ACT? I'm looking for prep programs w/ proven success rates and reasonable pricing (not over $1,000). Also, please tell which test prep co. you used, any prep books that helped you, and your scores. FYI: I will take it for the first time in September. I scored a 1900 on the SAT, and need to do significantly better on the ACT. (One of my "reach schools" is Columbia.) Thanks!

I’ve heard Kaplan is good. I haven’t done anything like this though.

I would suggest you google “test prep” and the city you live in to find a good local test prep company. They are usually more affordable and just as effective as Kaplan, Princeton Review and other large companies. There are no guarantees so don’t buy into one.

I got to Sylvan. I really like it. I’m not sure how much it costs. I also did a prep class at Princeton, but the instructor I had was very rude to me, so I didn’t learn much there. Go and get the Red book from ACT. I also recommend any books by Princeton and Barrons, but be warned Barron’s tests are harder than the real thing, which I like when practicing.
