ACT Tips Needed!!!

Is there any particular ACT Essay Thread like the SAT's How to Score a 12 Guide? Should I employ a strategy similar to the SAT on the ACT essay or is there anything different that I should do?

This is the only part of the ACT that worries me. If I miss two on the english section and get a ten on the essay, what should my English score approximately come out to?

Also, I keep running out of time on the ACT Reading Section. I usually have one or two questions left at the end of the section, of which I could do if I had 30 seconds - 1 minute more. Any tips on conquering the reading section?

Thanks!

The SAT tends to be more “sneaky” than the ACT. The SAT tends to try and “trick” you with certain questions, where with the ACT is what you see is what you get, so they’re mostly different in that way. The essays, I would assume, are pretty much the same. If you miss only 2 questions on the English, you’d get a 34/35, I think. Then with the combined english/writing, you’d have a 33, though the writing score doesn’t affect your comp.

The reading section seems to be a lot of people’s trouble, and it’s really hard if you’re not a quick reader. I read really fast, so I was left with extra time. But I’ve heard it helps to circle or mark things that seem to be important as you read the passages - names, dates, etc., in the prose section, descriptions tend to be important. Good luck!

What is the best book for preparing for the English section, particularly those questions that involve the impact of an addition, revision, or deletion of a section on the essay?

I usually get 35-36 on M, S, and R however my English scores tend to be lower (at 31-33).

^how good are they and what do they charge?

expect a very mind numbing essay topic
